This itinerary offers a short but fulfilling safari experience, ideal for travelers with limited time but a desire to experience Kenya’s wildlife and landscapes.

This safari features two big attractions – Mighty Mt. Kilimanjaro and immense herds of free-ranging elephants. Amboseli National Park sits at the base of Africa’s tallest peak and harbors an incredible population of free-ranging elephants – some say the best viewing in the world of these awesome pachyderms.

That’s why we can guarantee you’ll see great parades of elephants on your two-day adventure at the park. Imagine setting up your camera to capture all this grand wildlife marching before you, with the imposing form of Kilimanjaro framing the background. You can’t take a bad picture at Amboseli.

Schedule Details

Day 1: Nairobi to Amboseli National Park

  • 06:00 AM – Depart from Nairobi
    Start your journey early in the morning with a scenic drive to Amboseli National Park. The drive takes approximately 4 hours (250 km), passing through the Kenyan countryside with a view of the local landscape and villages.

  • 10:30 AM – Arrive at Amboseli National Park
    Upon arrival, proceed to the park’s entrance, where you'll begin spotting wildlife right away. Amboseli is home to elephants, lions, zebras, giraffes, and more, with Mount Kilimanjaro serving as a stunning backdrop.

  • 11:00 AM – Mid-morning Game Drive
    Embark on a game drive en route to your lodge or camp. Enjoy views of the park's famous marshes, open plains, and savannas, while spotting wildlife like elephants, hippos, buffaloes, and numerous bird species.

  • 01:00 PM – Lunch at the Lodge/Camp
    Arrive at your accommodation in time for a relaxing lunch. Enjoy a meal with a view of the surrounding landscapes, often with wildlife in the distance.

  • 02:30 PM – Afternoon at Leisure
    After lunch, take time to relax and enjoy the amenities of your lodge or camp. You can swim in the pool, relax in the lounge area, or enjoy a nature walk offered by the camp (optional). If you’re staying in a luxury camp, you might also book a spa treatment.

  • 04:00 PM – Afternoon Game Drive
    Head out for an afternoon game drive to explore different areas of the park. During this time, wildlife is often more active as temperatures cool down. Keep an eye out for Amboseli's famous elephants and predators like lions and cheetahs.

  • 06:30 PM – Sundowner and Return to Camp
    Enjoy a classic African sundowner (drinks as the sun sets over the horizon), before returning to your lodge for dinner.

  • 07:30 PM – Dinner at the Lodge/Camp
    A delicious dinner will be served back at your accommodation. Relax around the campfire or under the stars as you reflect on the day’s wildlife sightings

Day 2: Morning Game Drive and Return to Nairobi

  • 06:00 AM – Early Morning Game Drive
    Begin the day with an early morning game drive, when animals are most active. This is the perfect time to spot predators like lions on the hunt or see elephants grazing in the open fields as the first light of day hits Mount Kilimanjaro.

  • 09:00 AM – Return to Lodge for Breakfast
    After the game drive, return to your lodge or camp for a hearty breakfast while enjoying the peaceful ambiance of the bush.

  • 10:00 AM – Check Out and Final Game Drive
    After checking out, enjoy a short game drive as you make your way out of the park. This will give you one last opportunity to spot any animals you may have missed.

  • 12:00 PM – Depart Amboseli for Nairobi
    Begin your journey back to Nairobi, taking with you incredible memories and photos of the wildlife and breathtaking scenery.

  • 04:00 PM – Arrive in Nairobi
    Arrive back in Nairobi in the late afternoon, where your tour ends.
